Ellis Island
Ellis Island is a small island located in New York Harbor, which served as the primary gateway for immigrants to the United States from 1892 to 1954. During this time, over 12 million immigrants were processed through the island.
Today, Ellis Island is home to the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration, which offers visitors an interactive experience that showcases the immigrant experience in the United States. The museum includes exhibits, interactive displays, and restored buildings, including the Great Hall, which is where immigrants were processed upon arrival to the United States. Ellis Island is a symbol of hope and opportunity for millions of people who came to the United States in search of a better life.
