The Vatican
The Vatican City is a sovereign city-state located in the heart of Rome, Italy. It is the smallest country in the world, and is home to the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church and the residence of the Pope.
The Vatican is also home to numerous world-famous art and architecture, including the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica, and the Vatican Museums. The Sistine Chapel is famous for its beautiful ceiling, which was painted by Michelangelo in the early 16th century, and is considered one of the greatest works of art in human history. St. Peter’s Basilica is the largest church in the world and is known for its stunning Renaissance architecture and artwork, including works by Bernini and Michelangelo. The Vatican Museums contain some of the world’s most important art collections, including the Gallery of Maps and the Raphael Rooms. Today, the Vatican remains an important center of religion, art, and culture, and attracts millions of visitors each year from all over the world.
