Sutton Hoo

Sutton Hoo is an archaeological site located in southeastern England that contains a group of burial mounds dating back to the early 7th century. The site was discovered in 1939 and is considered one of the most significant archaeological finds in British history.

The burial mounds are believed to have been the final resting place of an Anglo-Saxon king and contain a wealth of treasures, including a ship burial, armor, weapons, jewelry, and other objects that provide insight into the culture and technology of the time. The discovery of Sutton Hoo has significantly expanded our understanding of the Anglo-Saxon period in England and has had a profound impact on our understanding of European history. Today, the site is open to the public, and visitors can explore the mounds and view the objects recovered from the site in the British Museum.
